Plastics, Polymers & Composites

Nanomaterials are also adding valuable new functionality to Plastics. Recent development efforts have seen nano-pigments give brilliance and lustre, nanomaterials act as UV screens and deliver improved strength and resistance to heat distortion.

However, potential nanomaterial applications are virtually boundless. For example, they may be used as antimicrobial agents in injection moulded thermoplastics, to enhance barrier properties in plastic films and as food sensors in plastic packaging.

This section of the NanoCentral website is intended to promote the rapid adoption of nanomaterials in the many and various potential applications proposed in Plastics. As such it seeks to engage with industry to disseminate best nanomaterial SHE practice, facilitate solution of problems impeding the introduction of nanomaterials and publicise nanomaterial product successes. Above all, NanoCentral seeks to promote the technology exchange to accelerate nanomaterial product introduction.
