Nanomaterials are already making significant impact in the sectors of Coatings and Inks. Examples of current applications include the use of nanomaterials to promote the abrasion resistance of spectacle lenses, to deliver optical effects and colour enhancement in automobile coatings and to act as thickeners and extenders in decorative coatings.
However, potential nanomaterial applications are virtually boundless. For example, they may be used in inks to give bleed-resistance, light fastness and heat resistance, in marine coatings to provide anti-fouling properties and in a wide range of industrial and decorative coatings to deliver self-cleaning surfaces.
This section of the NanoCentral website is intended to promote the rapid adoption of nanomaterials in the many and various potential applications proposed in Coatings and Inks. As such it seeks to engage with industry to disseminate best nanomaterial SHE practice, facilitate solution of problems impeding the introduction of nanomaterials and publicise nanomaterial product successes. Above all, NanoCentral seeks to promote the technology exchange to accelerate nanomaterial product introduction.
